For the past year and a half—coincidentally just about the time Windows Vista was introduced—The Miller Group has been selling Dell computers with "downgrade" rights to XP Professional. Dell is telling us that July will mark an end to that. We wish we could tell you which day in July, but we can't. Dell may know, but Dell isn't saying.

Many of you skipped Vista entirely, the same way you emphatically said "no thanks" to Windows ME. But if you're one of the 19% crowd of consumers who are running Vista or if you're one of the vast number of people and businesses still running XP, it's time for you to bite the bullet and switch to Windows 7.

Please don't misunderstand. We do not recommend that you upgrade your old computers to Windows 7. That requires a data transfer, the purchase of a Windows 7 upgrade, wiping your hard drive for a "clean" installation, and two hours of a technician's time. Rather than spend those dollars, you'd be better served by simply purchasing a new PC with Windows 7 pre-installed. The dollar amount is about the same. But the Miller Group does officially recommend that you choose Windows 7 for all your new computer purchases.

Why? For several good reasons. Windows 7 has better security, better networking, better media sharing, more advanced software support, more and better hardware drivers, better user account control, and an improved graphical user interface (GUI). In short, Windows 7 isn't like Vista. It's not a trip to the dentist. We're back to a Microsoft operating system that's user-friendly and intuitive.

Oh, and there's one more reason to start implementing Windows 7: it's time. Windows XP is now nine years old. Let The Miller Group drag you kicking and screaming into the future. Contact me if you have any questions, concerns or comments. Thank you for your time!
